20 Creative and Poignant Social Justice March Sign Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

In the wake of recent discouraging political appointments and decisions that plague the United States today, it is almost guaranteed that no matter where you live there will be a social justice march or protest in close proximity to you. Since such large-scale events often do not provide the opportunity for a verbal conversation about the issues, attendees typically bring creative or poignant signs expressing their concerns in hopes that the public will read them and act in solidarity with their message. It is often difficult to decide what to write, however, (as there are SO many discouraging aspects of recent months that it would be impossible to write them all) but a little inspiration never hurt anyone.

For the women’s rights advocate:

1. My uterus should not be more regulated than gun control.

2. The future is nasty (and so am I).

3. C*ckblock the government.

4. Will work for equal pay.

5. Vagina. Can’t say it? Don’t legislate it.

For the LGBTQ community and allies:

1. Gay by birth, proud by choice.

2. Love is love.

3. If you like it, then you should be able to put a ring on it.

4. Jesus had two dads and he turned out fine.

5. LGBTQ rights are human rights.

For those fighting racism:

1. Put avocado on racism so white America will pay attention.

2. No one is free when some are oppressed.

3. I will not go quietly back to the 1950s.

4. Black lives matter.

5. Wake up white America.

For those discouraged by governmental appointments:

1. Hate ain’t great.

2. Keep your tiny hands off of my rights.

3. Never my president.

4. Make America safe again.

5. Build bridges, not walls.

In general:

1. I cannot believe I still need to protest this crap.

2. I’m so angry I could vote/protest/march with a sign.

3. I am here because I am scared for my country.

4. The system has failed us.

5. I refuse to be silent.
