Dear high school best friend, it’s been a while since we’ve talked. I thought of you the other day. I started reflecting on life and how much I cherished our friendship in high school. You taught me the meaning of friendship and the importance of laughter. You helped create the memories that pop in my head every once in a while. You knew everything about me, even the things I didn’t observe about myself. You had my back and I had yours. Although we don’t talk much because we live our own lives, it’s nice to know that the memories of our friendship still lingers on.

Distant best friend, I’m so happy to see you’re doing so well. I will come across a post every now and then and remember little details about you. Bits of time will come back to mind. Little things like your haircut show me that you’ve finally let go of the attachment you had to your hair. To me, that indicates something even bigger. That you’ve grown as a person, and you’ve matured. Best friend, that makes my heart so happy. The new person you have by your side and the big smile on your face frozen in all those photos make me think about how you met, how he is, and how happy he makes you. That, best friend, makes me so incredibly satisfied. Seeing your life through my screen is bittersweet. I miss the adventures, the conversations and the time we spent together. You made the memories more special. You had a presence that lit up the room. I treasure our inside jokes and the silly things we got excited over. I especially miss our love for music and sharing our new finds. I miss supporting you and going through every adventure life throws our way. Even though I don’t see you everyday anymore, I still try to catch up on your life through what you post.

The distance does not matter. You will always have a special place in my heart and in my memories. Thank you for those memories. Thank you for everything you did for me. Just know that even from far away, I will always have your back. I will always be someone you can talk to. The distance and our separate lives will not make me turn you away if you ever need me. So my dear still best friend, I wish you nothing but happiness and positivity in this harsh world. If you ever struggle, I hope you get through it. If you experience success, I know you deserve it. So shine bright, best friend.

HCXO!
