8 Date Ideas for Winter Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Living in a place that gets super cold during the winter makes going on fun and exciting dates a little hard. Here are some fun ways to spend time with your significant other during the cold months of winter!

1. Cuddles, Movies, and Hot Chocolate

Nothing is better than one of your favorite movies while cuddling on the couch or in bed with your best friend! On a cold day where you can’t go outside to do anything with freezing wind chills and low temperatures, throw on a movie and make some hot chocolate to sip on.

2. Skiing/Snowboarding

Feeling adventurous? Grab your partner and head to a hill near you! Take some lessons if you have never skied or snowboarded before and enjoy the day adventuring through the snowy hills together. Ski lifts are also a nice, romantic ride to talk to each other and enjoy one another’s company.

3. Ice Skating

Find a local ice skating rink and have a crazy time with your significant other. It can be fun for both of you if you have never gone or if you both are really good. If one of you have never ice skated before, the other one can be a helping hand for the slippery ice.  Try hockey skates or figure skates to find what fits you best. You can end it with a warm meal at a restaurant or one of your favorite coffee shops.

4. Fort Building

You are never too old to build a fort outside or at the park. Grab your snow pants, boots, and mittens for a fun afternoon together playing in the snow. Build a castle or snowman together and end the day with a snowball fight or sledding!

5. Snowshoeing

Go on a romantic walk in the snow with a pair of snowshoes. It makes a nature walk much easier and manageable. Holding hands and sharing smooches is a great way to connect with one another, especially in the falling snowflakes.

6. Indoor Adventures

If the cold is too unbearable to enjoy a fun activity outside, there are countless things to do inside. Go to the mall, a movie, bowling, shooting range, rock climbing, aquariums, book stores, art galleries, museums, or sporting events. Sometimes you can find great deals online or free activities around your community.

8. Holiday Movie Marathon

Winter falls around some great holidays such as Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, St. Patty’s Day, and even sometimes Easter. You can binge watch holiday movies depending the time of year and enjoy some quality time with your other half.
