Kiss & Tell: Why It’s Okay To Be Single

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVM chapter.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, it might start to feel like you’re missing out by not being in a relationship. However, being single naturally has its advantages—especially in college. Read up and feel better about your singleness instantly.

Reason #1: The Dating Scene Kind of Sucks

Or in other words…does not exist at all. In college, it seems that no one is really dating anymore. Quite frankly, most of my friends have not been on a single date. Guys don’t really start to mature and take the initiative until our later twenties. Coming to terms with this makes it easier to embrace staying single and having fun on our own! After all, would you want to date an immature boy anyways?

Reason #2: Your Friends in College Are Forever

Think of your friends in college as your true soul mates! Boys and girls break up, but friends are forever. You could regret spending the greatest 4 years of your life on a relationship that didn’t even work out in the end. You simply can’t go wrong spending time with your best friends.

Reason #3: College Is For Learning

Not just learning from your classes, but from your experiences and extra curricular activities as well. It’s harder to stay motivated when you have a boy begging for your time every day. In sum, you miss out on some serious memory making when you’re in the typical relationship routine.

Obviously, some relationships are totally worth it! But remember these 3 things if you’re starting to sweat it…
