The Beauty Closet: Which Concealer Is Right For You?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVM chapter.

If there’s one makeup item I can’t live without, it’s probably concealer. (And mascara. And lipstick.) But seriously, concealer is a girl’s best friend. It helps cover up any pesky blemishes and conceal those nasty under eye circles if you stayed up too late watching Netflix. Figuring out which one to choose can be a toughie, so I’ve got you covered with some of my favorites.

1.    L’Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer, $13. This one is super wallet friendly and amazing for giving your skin a subtle glow. It instantly brightens up underneath your eyes, and can also double as a highlighter for the top of your cheekbones or anywhere else that needs some brightening.

2.   NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, $29. I bring this one out when I need some serious coverage. It’s a thicker formula but works so well to cover up my dark circles, not to mention being super hydrating. It doesn’t really crease and can also cover up blemishes.

3.   Benefit FakeUp, $24. This one is similar to the L’Oreal One, but comes in a cream stick instead of a liquid formula. It’s probably the most hydrating of all of them, and even though it only comes in three shades, it still matches most skin tones.

4.   MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, $19. I mentioned this concealer in my February favorites and still love it every day! One tiny pump goes a long way, and I find this one to be the best match to my skin tone. I can use it to cover up my dark circles, plus any redness around my nose or cheeks and it looks so natural.

5.    Benefit Boi-ing, $20. Because it’s a cream formula, this is probably one of the easier ones to blend compared to the liquids. It’s definitely a heavier formula, so it works for girls with serious under eye circles. It provides great “industrial strength” coverage.

I know they’re all a bit pricy but concealer is one item that I believe in spending more since you tend to get better quality. Hopefully you can find one that works for your needs. I’ve tested these all out and own/love them so I hope you enjoy them too!
