It’s that time of the year again – the Met Ball is just around the corner! The 2016 Met Ball will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on May 2nd. Unfortunately, Her Campus UVA’s invitation was obviously lost in the mail (a girl can dream).
For those of you who don’t know, the Met Ball is a spectacularly glamorous fundraising event hosted for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The event marks the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.
Every year the gala unites the most esteemed figures in fashion, film, art, and music for a glittering celebration. The guests go all out and wear some of the most elaborate and beautiful ensembles to ever grace the red carpet.
This year’s theme is “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” The exhibit, according to Vogue, will focus on the dichotomy between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion.”
This year’s theme is sure to inspire some incredible fashions.
