Campus Celebrity: Catherine Kouretsos

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

Say hello to the new USFSP University Relations Director (UR), Catherine Kouretsos, who is also campus celebrity this week. Catherine, known as Cat, has displayed her love for USFSP through her actions. As UR director, she is in charge of events and being the median between Student Government and the Student Body. She is also a STING RAY program mentor; she mentors an intellectual disabled student through friendship by aiding the mentee with homework and involvement on campus. Cat is an officer of CharitaBulls which is an organization on campus that works on off-campus philanthropy. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE… the jaw-dropping she has applied to be a USFSP Ambassador to represent the school even more.

On a more personal note

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself married with kids or have started a family. I also see myself doing public relation work for a corporate firm, preferably a theme park, such as Disney or Universal.

What advice do you have for incoming freshman?

Keep up your studies, school is number one, and do the best you can. I highly recommend getting involved on campus because you meet amazing people and lifelong friends. Also getting involved is just more fun!

What does UR do?

We plan events for students, listen to student body about changes and what they want to see from Student Government, and we’re in charge of the golf carts. Most of our work centers on the Student Body.

What are your plans for UR?

My plans are to grow the department in a positive way and to represent SG in a constructive way. I want the student body to be proud of the campus they go to and I want them to feel comfortable with speaking to SG whether it’s over things they want to change or contribute to.

Obviously Cat is really involved and after her time here is done as an undergrad she plans on getting her Master’s degree at the University of Florida. She is a Mass Communication major with a minor in History at USFSP and will hopefully graduate in spring 2016. We have less than a year left with Ms. Kouretsos but she has done much as a student and plans to do even more during the rest of her time here.
