The Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

“The Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation was inspired by a single unexpected act of Love and a whole lot of trust and magic.”- BJWT Foundation Website

I recently donated money towards this amazing foundation. I believe that more people should become aware of the awesome steps this foundation is taking to rescue Big Cats. Their mission statement is: “To rescue Big Cats from sad circumstances and provide them with the best lifestyle available. A life governed by Love and respect” (BJWT). They take care of lions, tigers, jaguars, and leopards.

They believe that it is not fair for defenseless animals to have to be abused by humans who use them in inappropriate ways such as being kept as pets or in circuses. Some of the rescued big cats have never seen or been on grass before in their whole lives because they were being kept in very small containers with no access to wildlife. This is heartbreaking.

Having more than one million followers on Instagram, Eduardo spreads his word and shows the world how sweet these animals are. He does this while making sure we understand that although they may be cute, they are not pets.

He puts his whole heart into what he does. These cats are his life and his babies whose well being means everything to him. You can see through the work he does that their lives have improved since being rescued by this foundation. There is a significant improvement in their quality of life.

The whole foundation started with one infant, orphaned black jaguar named Cielo who unexpectedly fell into Eduardo’s arms. At the time she was being drugged to be calm enough to take pictures with people who paid to do so. Cielo needed help and he couldn’t look back. He moved back to Mexico and that’s when this wonderful foundation took off. Over the years he has rescued many big cats and currently takes care of around 20 felines, many of which he has had since they were cubs.

Eduardo is doing great things for these animals and needs all the help he can get. You can donate by heading over to their website and just donating funds, or you can purchase apparel and merchandise supporting their movement where 100% of the proceeds go towards the foundation.
