Tyler Fordham: Meet A Her Campus Member

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Sophomore Tyler Fordham, double majoring in marketing and sociology, with a minor in economics, is easily able to stand out in the crowd. With her golden blonde hair and bubbly personality, she’s definitely an individual who can’t be forgotten. She was born and raised in Miami, FL and loves going to the beach, which goes hand in hand!

So Tyler, What brought you here to Tampa? “When I first visited Tampa the weather was pretty nice. I also can’t afford out of state tuition but it’s cool how everyone is friendly and helpful here. I pretty much got a good vibe and figured it was for me. “

When you first moved in freshmen year, how did you react to living in your dorm room? “I loved it! I may be bias because I didn’t have a roommate and ended up having the whole room to myself. The closet was huge too! Although the bathroom wasn’t what I expected, it was overall a great experience.”

What is your favorite thing to do around campus? “Going to the dining hall, duh! I would gather with my friends and even met a bunch of people there as well. We would always meet up and have big feasts together. Because we didn’t have cars it was a great way to socialize with different people. With food and chairs what else do you really need?”

Since you’ve been here you had to have heard of the dance the “Wobble,” right? It’s pretty big at USF! “Of course! I was one of the few that actually knew about it too. I learned it at weddings I attended back in Miami and when the song would play all of my friends here would look confused. I still have a friend to this day who is asking me to teach her how to do it.”

What is your clothing style? “I’ve been through my phases, but my sense of style of is quirky. I like to throw unexpected things together while still staying true to myself. Anything that would come out of a thrift store is for me because I adore vintage pieces. My hair accessories are like my best friends too. If you catch me around campus you’ll always see a cute headband or exotic looking flowers in my hair.”

What’s a typical Friday night for you? “Before I met my boyfriend I would usually go out with the girls every Friday night. We would always go dancing and have blast together. Although it’s cheesy, now I pretty much chill with my boyfriend and we love to watch scary movies together. I’m in the process of making him go dancing with me now actually.”

What is something that most people wouldn’t think you are able to do? “I am usually a happy-go-lucky person, so most people can’t imagine me in a way that they can take me seriously. The fact that I am always smiling doesn’t help either. Although I may pout about things easily, I get over stuff pretty fast.”

What’s relationship advice that you would give to someone entering college for the first time? “Make sure you don’t rule anyone out. When you least expect it that’s when you’ll find the best love. If you have a type, make sure to throw it out the window too! It would really suck to give up on what could be a great relationship because the guy doesn’t fit the looks that you would expect. And remember; don’t be afraid to talk to someone cute. It’s always great to know someone who’s cute.”

As a sophomore, what is one tip you would give to incoming freshmen? “Definitely get out of your comfort zone! It’s not easy especially if you haven’t been raised with a diverse background, but don’t be afraid. College is what you make it so get out and get involved. Oh and don’t forget to not be afraid to talk to cute boys!”

What are you looking forward to this year at USF? “I just know this year’s going to be amazing. I’m all around optimistic, Disney™ Channel style! I can’t wait to meet all the new people and even my room will be better then last year. Basically I know this year is going to be awesome and one to remember.”
