5 Hidden Joys at USF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

1. Freshly Churned Peanut Butter

Champion’s Choice, the dining hall located next to the campus rec. center, is where they make fresh peanut butter! Head to the sandwich station and ask the worker for “THE” peanut butter. They will then turn on this marvelous machine which freshly churns honey roasted peanuts into delicious, fresh peanut butter. Be sure to try it with their chocolate frozen yogurt for a delicious treat!

2. Free Ice Cream

Every spring Ben and Jerry’s has their “Free Cone Day” all across the nation, which includes the Ben and Jerry’s located in the Andros Pod Market. Students get a free scope of ice cream of their choosing on a hot Tampa day. But remember, first come, first serve!

3. Free Massages

USF’s Wellness Center, located in the Marshall Student Center, offers free five-minute massages to students. Who doesn’t want a nice massage either before, in between, or after a class? It is a total stress reliever in the midst of a busy day! Brookstone massage chairs are available on Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

4. Quaint Cafe

Have you ever been to Camille’s Sidewalk Café located in the Morsani Center? It offers a great variety of fresh pastries, sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies and coffee. What is great about Camille’s is that it is calm, relaxing and less crowded. An added bonus? Camille’s rarely has a line and always has a place for you to sit.

5. Cute Critters

Odds are, you have encountered campus wildlife, including the sassy squirrels and the adorable ducks. Seeing the little makes us smile and appreciate the little things in life- even when they cut out the power.

Hello, my name is Silvia. I am currently a junior majoring in mass communications with a concentration in public relations. I decided to choose public relations because I believe that it is the most applicable concentration when working in such a fast-paced, interactive industry such as fashion. My dream is to become a fashion magazine layout designer in Tokyo, Japan. I was born and raised in Japan and am currently in my third year living in the states. I grew up in Japan and have modeled with Japanese companies since I was in middle school. Some jobs I did include modeling, acting and even being an extra in a national movie. Through modeling, I was able to get first-hand experienced how much work and creativity goes into publishing a fashion magazine. Since then, I knew that fashion was and is going to be a part of my future career. I am prepared to do whatever it takes in order to achieve my dream job and make a mark in the fashion industry.
