Are you a bookworm, collegiettes™?

If you’re like me, you’re always on the hunt for a fresh book to read. Even if you don’t get tired of rereading the “Harry Potter” series like I do, it’s always nice to find something new too. There are so many great novels to add to your book list. Here are just a few. Some of them I’ve read recently and loved. Some are on my list too!

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

I just read this dark murder mystery and it was amazing! Full of thrilling twists, turns and some very interesting topics. From the author of “Gone Girl,” check out this disturbing page-turner that will make your skin crawl from all the surprises. You just might be tempted to finish this book in one sitting.

Defending Jacob by William Landay

So my mom is in a book club and I always end up reading the books too. “Defending Jacob” is not the novel I pictured a group of ladies reading, but I’m glad it is. Another mystery and thriller novel that proves what a parent will do to protect their child. This book has surprises up until the end so finish it. I promise you won’t be sorry!

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

Out of all the books on this list, “The Goldfinch” is the one I still need to read. It is a Pulitzer Prize winner with amazing reviews online. The book follows 13-year-old New Yorker Theo Decker, who survives an accident that kills his mother. His father abandons him and he is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. The book has tragedy, survival and growth. Set with New York City as the backdrop means of course I have to read it!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

If you haven’t read this yet, put it at the top of your list! The movie is out in theaters now, but the movie is just as good (better as I always say with books versus movies). This is not a conventional love story, but it’s real and raw. The love of Hazel Grace and Gus that began in a cancer support group will leave you breathless and in tears. But the story line is definitely worth the heartache.

The Divergent series by Veronica Roth

If you loved “The Hunger Games” you’ll probably love this dystopian trilogy too. This world after war is split into five factions, each with a particular virtue. There is Candor, the honest; Abnegation, the selfless; Dauntless, the brave; Amity, the peaceful; and Erudite, the intelligent. Read Beatrice Prior’s story and get caught up in the craziness of her world. Plus you can go see the first movie in theaters!
