This week’s Campus Celebrity is quite the entertainer! Larry Adigun is his name and making people laugh is one of the many things he does best. Adigun has graced URI with his lively personality, witty humor and dedicated leadership. The President of Brothers On a New Direction (BOND) and a member of the Student Organization Leadership Consultants (SOLC), Adigun spends whatever free time he has writing and filming his own comedy pieces.
Adigun’s career began on Snapchat, where he would send 10 second commentary videos to his friends. If he did not post or send videos, Adigun found himself bombarded with texts from his friends requesting that he did. Adigun’s friends equated his Snapchat segments to, “Michael Jordan playing pick-up basketball.” Adigun clearly had signficant talent and needed to bring his Snapchats to the next level.
Adigun posted one of his videos on Twitter and instantly recieved 50 retweets. He began using the iMovie application to film his segments and then posted them on his Instagram account: @Hilarryous1.
“I like to make people laugh. I enjoy people’s interactions with my videos and I enjoy engaging with my audience” Adigun said.
Social media has played an integral role in Adigun’s success. Social media outlets such as Funniest_15seconds; LinkupTV and Baller Alert have shared his content, increasing his audience and stardom. Adigun’s most popular video, hitting over 1 million view and counting, is featured HERE!!!
Some of Larry’s content is provactive and has occassionaly been critsized as offensive. He addressed this by saying,
“I don’t want a vulgar perception. I’m trying to be versatile, appealing to my diverse audience. I seek to share relatable content, never to offend or disrespect others. My videos are reflections of personal experiences and uinque inspirations that I care to share with my audience.”
Adigun humbly expressed, “This is just me being me. I’m not a comedian, I don’t want to be a stand-up comedian. I am an enterainer, and that is all”
