Get A Bikini Body Without Going To The Gym!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

Summer is approaching and with it comes it’s ups and downs. All the winter and final exams overeating are taking a toll on your body, don’t worry HerCampus has got you covered. Since we do live in paradise, bikinis are our go to outfit during summer break, we met up with aerobics and spinning instructor Maria del Carmen Noriega, for some tips on how to slim down and stay slim all summer.

Noriega, has been a personal trainer and aerobics instructor for 25 years and currently works teaching spinning on Momentum Fitness Center in Isla Verde. The fitness guru says that summer is the season were the gyms fill up. “A lot of teenage girls come in during summer to slim down for prom,” she said.

You don’t have to go to the gym everyday to get your body bikini ready! Noriega recommends a daily circuit training that can help you lose weight and stay fit. She mentioned that every day before showering you should do these exercises:

1. 100 crunches to get rock hard abs.

note: Every 10 crunches take a small break so you won’t get tired easily.

2. 40 pushups

note: Remember that a key to a well done pushup is to maintain your elbows close to your body.

3. Exercise in the plank position. It works all of your body and helps keep everything tight. You can view the exercises that  you’ll do in the plank position below:

note: Maintain all of your body tense, especially the abs, to get the full body workout.

4. Last but not least, run at least 15 minutes in place. It’s great for cardio and prevents cellulitis.

To get that Victoria Secret body, you must also maintain a diet. Even though it’s basically tradition, avoid eating fried food and a lot of sweets. If you want to indulge from time to time, do it in moderation. Noriega recommended to snack on apples and low cal food such as lentil soup, that is also high on protein.

If you’re goal is to lose weight quickly, the spinning instructor recommended different types of smoothies that will fill you up without bloating you. Antioxidant smoothies like:

1. Vegetables: Cucumber, carrots, celery and apples

2. Berry: Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

Noriega says the combination of the exercise and diet is essential and that you should do these daily exercise “until you die”. Overall, the whole circuit takes about 40 minutes of your morning. If you persist and do it everyday, you’ll have the body of your dreams in no time.
