Campus Cutie: Joey Blake ‘15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

With a debonair aura and a shimmy to match, senior political science major Joey Blake is the Nupe to know. When he’s not in step practice or flourishing in the Pit, you can catch the Gastonia native and community manager shepherding underclassmen or crooning away to the Weeknd in his room. Whatever the setting, you can bet this week’s Campus Cutie will have a smile and a quip for you.

List three words that best describe you: Comical, Mellow, Passionate

Quote you live by: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” – Philippians 4:13

Guilty pleasure show: Scandal and House of Cards…I can’t choose between the two lol

Favorite movie: Mortal Kombat

Favorite book: Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (the whole series)

Favorite drink: Non-alcoholic: Apple Juice.  Alcoholic: Jack Daniels

Favorite sport: Football

HC: What’s a fun fact about you?

JB: I once wrote a poem that was published in a book sold nationwide… when I was seven years old.

HC: Have any hidden talents?

JB: I can see from long distances.  Not like Superman vision but you get the point.

HC: Who’s your celebrity crush?

JB: Jhene Aiko

HC: If you had a million dollars how would you spend it?

JB: I would definitely give back to God first (through Church).  I would then find a charitable cause that I am passionate about to donate more of the money.  I would also help out my close family and friends in any way that I could.  I would spend money on myself lastly.

HC: What’s your best pickup line?

JB: I don’t think I have those.  From what I hear, they’re only reserved for cool kids.

HC: Describe your ideal first date.

JB: My ideal first date would honestly be something very simple.  I’m a very vocal person that likes to get the know the female in whom I’m interested.  Also, I love to eat.  Basically, a dinner date is ideal for me.  I don’t care if it’s at a restaurant or a picnic in a park.  Dinner dates are great opportunities to gauge the other person and their personality and to enjoy yourself at the same time.

HC: What do you look for in a girl?

JB: I look for a female that is on the same accord as me spiritually.  Aside from that, looks are great of course but can be quickly overlooked with a dull personality.  I love a girl with a sense of humor with a slight touch of sarcasm.  However, I would want a girl to be able to take things seriously at the right times also.  Intelligent conversation is also a must.

HC: Who would play you in your life movie?

JB: Somebody told me that I sing like Trey Songz the other day so I’ll go with him.
