Valentine’s Day with your [Girl]Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

So February 14 is approaching and it is one of those days in the year that can be what you make it.

The foundation for it though is that your significant other is supposed to make you feel special.  Yeah, so for all of us here that are celebrating National Single Awareness day here are ideas to do with your girlfriends. Who let’s face it- are really more important.

TREAT YO SELF

If you caught that Parks and Rec reference, thank you.

How you reward yourselves for simply being yourselves is totally up to you—Mani/Pedi time, facials, shopping, having dinner together.  And take note, all these things can be done at home!  You can save or splurge as much as you want while you have a Queen B day.  Book it elsewhere or do some in-house Pinterest magic.

Gift Swap

A surprise is a surprise, and quite frankly any gift is a welcomed one.  Get your girls together, draw names, and set a cap on how much you can all spend on your Secret Valentine.  These gifts can follow to generic ‘here’s a gift from you to me’ type exchange, or you can put a theme to it.  In the spirit of singledom, may I suggest Anti-Valentines Day? Cliché, right.  Make it funny gifts—like the ultimate single survival kit that’s in the form of a bottle of wine.

PARTY

Any reason to have a party is kosher in my book.  Honestly, it’s a Friday night regardless- make it as lovey dovey, black hearts, or just party.  Have a damn luau just because.

Among all of these, make some sort of combination day that encompasses the true meaning of Valentine’s Day for Singles: I’ll buy my own damn candy… on the following Saturday because all that will be half off.
