College students are many things: diverse, intellectual, curious, confused, and many more, but one thing that they are not is loaded with money. Nowadays, the phrase “broke college kid” gets thrown around so often that it is actually shocking to most if you aren’t a broke college student. While some students work part-time jobs, or are seeking work, there are ways for students to (legally) make some extra money on the side. Here are seven easy ways to make some quick money!
Selling Textbooks
1. UCSB Book Exchange
One of the easiest ways to sell your textbooks is by taking a photo and posting it on the UCSB Book Exchange Facebook page. Chances are extremely high that another UCSB student needs the book you’re selling, making it easy to not have to go through the hassle of shipping a book.
2. Chegg
Chegg.com will buy back textbooks and novels in great condition (no water damage or cracked spines), and they provide a free shipping label to send your books in.
Selling Clothing
3. UCSB Fashion Exchange
Similar to the UCSB Book Exchange Facebook page, this page is devoted to buying and selling clothes. Now, cleaning out your closet comes with the incentive of being able to make some money.
4. Poshmark
Poshmark is great for selling higher end clothes that are in great condition. It is an easy to use free app designed to make the selling process as easy as possible.
5. Consignment Stores
While the monetary reward at consignment stores may not be very high, they are still a great option to take your previously loved clothes in to exchange for some cash, or even store credit. Be sure to call ahead and ask them what styles they are looking for!
Selling Random Items
6. UCSB Free and For Sale Page
This page has absolutely zero restrictions on what can be sold. Everything from appliances to food to random household objects.
Miscellaneous:
7. Doing psychology experiments
While this may not be on the top of anyone’s list, it can be a very simple way to earn some extra cash. There are always experiments running, and some require very little time to complete, while others can span over a couple of weeks.
