Meet Carson Capps: Classic Rock and Fish Taco Enthusiast

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

Meet Carson Capps, the UCSB freshman who loves classic rock, fish tacos, and and playing the guitar. Oh, and did we mention he was in a band? Permission to drool now.

Name: Carson Capps

Year: Freshman

Major: I’m undeclared, but I’ll probably have to end up in humanities somewhere because it’s too late to do Bio or Math…so probably English.

Celebrity Crush: My celebrity crush is Molly Rankin, the lead singer of the Canadian surf rock band Alvvays.

What do you first notice about girls? Historically, the first thing I notice about girls are their eyebrows. But that’s, like, far from the most important feature. I also notice hair, their smell, their breath…bad breath is like my biggest pet peeve in the world. Which is why I’m always chewing gum.

Dislikes: Hm…there’s nothing that girls do specifically that I don’t like. Just things I don’t like applies to both men and women. I don’t like mean people. I don’t like fake people. I don’t like people who aren’t curious and don’t want to learn. Like, what are you doing at UCSB?

Perfect date: Going to Amoeba Records, either in San Francisco, Berkeley, or LA. After that, probably ending up near the ocean somewhere to get fish tacos.

Hobbies: Playing guitar, playing Super Smash Bros. I like picking up trash on the beach…I actually do that. Going on runs. Eating. Going to concerts. Watching Netflix…said everyone you’ve asked that question to.

Top 5 Super Smash Bros Characters: Sonic, Toon Link, Marth, Metaknight, and Captain Falcon

What type of music do you like? The main genres I listen to are surf rock, garage rock, and British alternative. But I was also was raised on classic rock. My favorite band is the Beatles. But I don’t include them because it’s too obvious.

Favorite High school memory: I enjoyed being in a band for two years and playing shows behind a local church.

You were in a band? Yeah. We used play a lot of Strokes covers, Kings of Leon, and Vampire Weekend. Just a bunch of stuff you’d expect white high school students to play.

What do you want readers to get from this? The main thing to take away from this is that campus cuties shouldn’t be worshipped. We’re people just like you. Um, you shouldn’t feel like you owe me anything. I am a boy with feelings. Also, you’re never truly alone as long as you have your shadow.
