Recap: College Fashion Week 2016 in Los Angeles

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

For the first time in its five year history, College Fashion Week came to Los Angeles. The 20th CFW brought sensational sponsors, fabulous fashion and a night of fun. Three Her Campus at UCLA staffers made the trek out to Playa Studios in Culver City on Oct. 22 to celebrate trendiness with fellow collegiettes.

Though I joined Her Campus my freshman year and have remained a loving member for the past three years, College Fashion Week was one of my first opportunities understanding the bigger picture of Her Campus. I got to see two of the inspirational founders in person, hear girls cheer on other girls of all sizes and styles, experience a full-out Her Campus event, savor the glamour of the studio space filled with sponsors, spend time with my fellow staffers and now I get to write about my experience. My first College Fashion Week was an adventure that was a small reminder of how important Her Campus is to collegiettes.

As Campus Correspondent, I got to enjoy the VIP pass and seating area.

The Candy Bar was stocked with pink and white candies ranging from chocolate to bubble gum to gummies.

The packed audience awaits the first runway show.

The models are real college students from Los Angeles schools. Four different shows featured themes such as rush themed, girls night out and study chic.

Iris attended UCLA and modeled for College Fashion Week this weekend.

She poses in her boots and full-length cotton black dress.

Models brought their own individual flair with poses and struts down the runway, and were often welcomed by cheers from the excited crowd.

At the end of the night, founder Windsor introduced her co-founder Annie and the whole team that made College Fashion Week possible.

We had a great time at the photo booth and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, whether it was checking out the fashion or enjoying the snacks from our sponsors like KIND bars and boxed water.

Thank you so much Her Campus! We hope you come back to LA soon. HCXO
