College students don’t usually have a lot of money to spend on fancy Italian restaurants or 3-day trips to Disney World. What we do have, however, is this gorgeous campus. Believe it or not, some of the sweetest spots in LA are hidden right here at UCLA. Use our list for your next romantic date — right here on campus!
1. Inverted Fountain
This beautiful fountain is not only an iconic UCLA trademark but also the best place to relax, unwind and just talk. College can be so stressful. Let the running water and shady trees soothe you into slowing down and enjoying a moment with a person you care about.
2. Janss Steps
Is anything cuter than a picnic on the grass? The lawns surrounding Janss Steps are the perfect spot to recline and spend the day relishing a rare moment of peace this school year. Bonus points if your picnic includes a puppy!
3. Murphy Sculpture Garden
Enjoy a beautiful outdoor art display with a date at UCLA’s Murphy Sculpture Garden. Full of shady corners and intimate seating circles, there are endless things to look at and discuss.
4. Top of Royce Hall
Climb all the way to the top of Royce Hall and you’ll be greeted with the most amazing view. In this secluded area, you and your date will be able to enjoy each other’s presence as well as the beautiful view of campus. So romantic!
5. Libraries
It might not be that romantic, but sometimes a study date is what you (and your grades) really need. Luckily, UCLA has 10 different libraries and they’re all beautiful! Besides, how else will you be able to see your special someone this midterm season?
6. Dickson Court North
Despite being completely open, Dickson Court North is a surprisingly quiet and serene pocket of our otherwise busy campus. Plus, it has the trifecta: sun, shade and grass, all in one spot!
7. Secluded Bench
This little secluded bench hidden to the side of Royce Hall is perfect for a pair to couple up. And with all the trees surrounding it, it’s positively dreamy!
8. Fountain
Another date, another fountain. Just don’t forget to make a wish—whether it’s to ace your midterms or stay together forever with your date, the magic of UCLA works in strange ways. Don’t be surprised if your wish comes true!
9. Ackerman Union
At the very top of Ackerman Union is a quiet, secluded patio with a beautiful view of campus. Complete with arches and flowers, this spot is totally date-worthy!
As college students, we have to be careful with our money, but that doesn’t mean our dates have to be any less romantic! We have this beautiful campus, but most importantly, we have our date. As long as we enjoy the company, every moment together is one well spent!
