5 Things You Don’t Realize Until You’re A Senior In College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

1) You will spend every day thinking, “I can’t believe I’m a senior in college.”

For whatever reason, this concept is really difficult to grasp.

2) There is no such thing as taking it easy.

We all do it. We plan on taking level 2000 electives and half online courses in that final year, with intent on having flexible schedules and stress free minds. Unfortunately, this lovely idea is but a dream. Try planning a graduation party, choosing which family members make the cut for your miniscule amount of commencement tickets, picking out announcement fonts, hiring a photographer, developing your professional online presence, making post-grad living arrangements, and passing your level 2000 elective classes that you have absolute zero interest in and tell me about how much free time you have. #whatisthegym

3) There are still a thousand things you’ve had yet to experience, and you’ll probably make a bucket list.

Yes, there has always been a rock climbing wall in your university gym. Yes, your schools most popular bar has always hosted “Liquor Pitcher Wednesdays” with free pitchers of alleged “liquor.” It’s crazy how many great things go unnoticed until you’re on the verge of losing them. The clock is ticking. GO!

4) Every event is equally emotional as it is enjoyable.

Going into your senior year, you anticipate everything to be superbly more awesome than usual, simply because it’s your last. What you don’t anticipate is wanting to cry at the end of everything, simply because it’s your last. Every tailgate, happy hour, sporting event, and sometimes even class ends with a twinge of sadness. THIS. IS. IT.

5) Capstone is your life.

Don’t know what this means? You must not be a senior. Your time will come, young lassie. Be patient and be ready.
