If you don’t know me, this basically sums up my thoughts on First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama:
I’m devastated that she’s leaving the White House after eight years of her wonderful presence in our world. She’s been a role model to me and she deserves the only ode I’ve ever written.
To the woman who is the most highly educated First Lady to ever live in the White House: thank you for understanding and teaching complex social issues to a nation that sorely needs to comprehend the root of its inequality as well as endlessly encouraging us to educate ourselves.
To the woman who fiercely pursued her passions and created a multitude of federal projects (Let’s Move, Joining Forces, Reach Higher, Let Girls Learn, and many more): thank you for being an outstanding leader for healthy eating, exercise, equality, and giving back to the people who deserve it.
To the woman who embraced her identity wholeheartedly: thank you for showing the world that your identity is your strength and for reinforcing the necessity of intersectional feminism.
To the woman who never took herself too seriously: thank you for showing us that class comes with humor and confidence.
To the woman who has balanced her family and public service: thank you for setting an exceptional example for womxn who hope to have it all.
To the woman who has the wisdom to address any and all situations: thank you for sharing your knowledge on so many topics with us for eight years.
Thank you, Michelle Obama, for being the best role model anyone could ask for. You will be dearly, painfully missed as you leave the White House, but thank you for eight wonderful years as our First Lady.
