How do you spend your time?: I’m in Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), so I’m usually occupied doing stuff for the fraternity. When I’m on campus, I’m a supervisor at the COHO. Other than that, I’m really busy with school, but I’m usually down to do whatever during my free time.

What is it like being a COHO supervisor?: Working here is kind of like a small social network, which is pretty nice. We get free coffee and some free food; those kinds of hook ups are definitely the best part of the job.  Everybody kicks it outside of work.We also have huge parties that are always fun.

What are some of your duties as supervisor?: I make sure everything is put out on time and try to make sure there is always something out to serve. I micromanage the kitchen and prepare the recipes for the next day. I am also responsible to use the ovens and strategize efficient ways of cooking in bulk. I have to deal with customer questions and make sure I know exactly what is in each dish in case a customer has a certain food allergy.

How do you balance your time?: The first time I worked here it was definitely hard adjusting to it all. You just have to manage your time and understand what your priorities are. It’s not too bad.  School is first, having fun and working come after that. Work and play are two different things, so I just have to make sure I play after all my work is done. I also don’t sleep very much. I find a way to get my schoolwork done, even if that means waking up at three in the morning.

What are your plans after college?: Well, I’m Pre-Med. I’m hoping to graduate in 2012 as the centennial class. I’m going to take the MCATs the second half of the year and probably do some research afterwards. I’m looking at UCLA Medical School, but UC Davis has a good medical school too. For the most part, what I really want to do is surgical practice. I know a little bit about surgery because of the whole experience thing. During my first varsity game I had four teeth kicked out. The route canals were pretty intense. I was actually supposed to have another dental surgery during spring break.

So, any exciting new plans for spring break?: Since my surgery didn’t get booked, I’m going to Cal Poly where my buddy’s uncle has a lake house.  My buddy is turning 21, so we’re planning on celebrating.

Do you have any siblings?: I have one younger sister, a younger brother, and a stepbrother. I’m very close with them. It’s nice being the oldest, but you’re the guinea pig with your parents. You’re also the golden child, so they baby you above the rest of the kids. You get looked up to, and your parents don’t hassle you all the time. It’s the best of both worlds.

Most embarrassing moment: During fall quarter this year I was skateboarding by A Street, and I didn’t notice that the grass sunk in next to the sidewalk . I went to go cut the curb a little too quick and completely face planted it into a bush. My best friend was with me.  I was so embarrassed.
