How to look Boom-Chicka-Bow-WowZA!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Did you wake up super late today for class but you still wanna look AH-MAZE-Zing? Well, well, well….lucky for you, HC UCR is here with some suggestions!

With 10 minutes to do my makeup, I play up my best features: my eyes!

If you’re lucky enough to be blessed with lush and long lashes, apply a coat of mascara. However, for those of you like me, with sparse and stubby lases, this trick will make you look like you came out of a mascara ad!

1st: Curl your lashes (if you’re using a heated curler, apply mascara THEN curl)
2nd: Apply a lengthening mascara

My favorite fibrous mascara such is: DejaVu’s Fiberwig 3D Mascara

3rd: Apply a volumizing mascara

I pair mine with YSL’s Effet Faux Cils, Lancome’s Hypnose Doll Lashes, (both sample sizes from Sephora!) or Maybelline’s Full and Soft

*** I find that using lengthening mascara before volumizing mascara looks less clumpy and more flattering. Because volumizing mascara makes your lashes appear thicker, this translates to more clumps, and by applying that first, it would be more difficult apply lengthening mascara after it is on your lashes.

**3b-Curl your lashes now if you’re using a heated curler**

4th: Apply mascara to the lower lash line

I think Loreal’s Telescopic Explosion in waterproof is absolutely genius! The brush is small enough to grab every little hair on your lashline, and won’t catch the skin underneath!
For the lower lashline, I use a waterproof formula to prevent smudging because after walking around campus all day, I can get a bit….sweaty…and when you sweat, your makeup runs and smudges a bit!

5th: Apply black eyeliner to the top water line and a colored (if you’re feeling adventurous) or a brown one to the bottom one

This makes your lashline appear fuller
One of the best drugstore brands that I’ve found is Milani’s Liquif’ Eye
You want to apply the eyeliner after you apply the mascara because the mascara “traps” the eyeliner from running down your face

6th : Brighten up your eyes with a dash of shimmery eyeshadow from the lower inner tear duct to the middle of your irises.

I find that Covergirl’s Campagne has the right amount of shimmer

7th: Line lower lashline from the outer half of the irises to the end with a brown shadow

This step helps further secure your eyeliner from migrating downward
I’ve been using Maybelline’s eyeshadow quad in Chai Latte (you can also use the lightest (Base) color for step 6 too!!)
