There’s been a lot of changes since Trump’s Inauguration. And since, there’s been so much going on in the news that sometimes staying informed can look a little bleak.  So I still read the news to stay informed, but I love watching late night shows. Late night shows are great because they give me hilarious monologues about current events, and sometimes I just want to laugh about everything that’s been going on. I love watching comedians who can keep me informed and make me laugh.  I usually get my dose of late night shows on Youtube, but I try to tune in when I can. I love late night shows because it’s like watching the news…only funnier. So here are my top 5 favorite late night shows:

SNL – Saturday Night Live has always been a favorite just because I love it when my favorite stars come and host the show. Recently Aziz Ansari hosted the show, and I loved his monologue. In his monologue he dubbed Donald Trump as the “Chris Brown of politics” and condemned the “lower case K.K.K movement.” Intrigued? – click here for the full monologue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whde50AacZs

Also another great clip from SNL that has been popular most recently is Melissa McCarthy’s take on Sean Spicer – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWuc18xISwI

Daily show with Trevor Noah – Taking over for Jon Stewart, Trevor Noah, born in South Africa, brings a new perspective to American politics on the Daily Show.

Here’s a clip of Trevor Noah’s take on the new Supreme Court Justice Nominee Neil Gorsuch – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtARYhz3tjw

And here’s a clip from his interview with Tomi Lahren, which was super interesting to watch because of the different stances on politics, Tomi being very conservative and Trevor very liberal – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2xv4fba65U

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – Stephen Colbert, from correspondent on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, to a late night show on Comedy Central, The Colbert Report, now he’s taking over for David Letterman on CBS with his own late night prime time show. Stephen Colbert’s humor and take on current politics is smart and a bit silly, but always funny. Here’s his latest monologue concerning the Michael Flynn incident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwHzThU4X_4

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee – YASS a woman with her own late night show! It’s about time! Also a Daily Show with Jon Stewart correspondent alum, her humor is so relatable. I love this show not just because she’s just as hilarious as the other men on this list, but her passion for women’s rights is amazing.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver – John Oliver is amazing! This is probably one of my favorites of all time. John Oliver, another Daily Show with Jon Stewart alum, has his own 30 minute show on HBO, but it’s not like any other late night show. Last Week Tonight is on HBO but John Oliver wants us to be woke, so he uploads almost his full show on YouTube every week. He covers a wide range of issues such as the prison system, sexual education in the US, Brexit, doping, abortion laws, and so much more. He covers issues in the US that I didn’t even know existed like Televangelists and the problem with FIFA. But he’s not afraid call people out and push the boundaries. For example, in his most recent episode about the Truth and Trump, John Oliver bought ad space on Fox News Channel, CNN, and MSNBC in Washington DC to target one viewer, Donald Trump. Why did he buy ad space? Because he explained it’s “one small way we wanted to try to sneak some useful facts into his media diet.”
