How to Prevent Burning-Out Right Before Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

It’s the time of the year when everyone is just on the brink of burning out. You can feel it all around you and the negative energy is enough to make you want to kick down and drown everything out. However, the reality is that you have to keep trekking along whether you would like to or not so these are my four tips for you.

1. Spend time around people who motivate you. The best thing you can do for yourself now is to use your time wisely and with that in mind, make those hours count with the ones that will uplift you.

2. Stock up on energy-boosting food. Whatever it may be for you, have it on hand at all times. Use the 5 energy drinks or use the tea! From personal experience, carbs tend to make me sleepy so I keep them to a minimum but for others, this may be entirely different. Find out what makes your physical body work the best so that you can perform your best with full mental strength

.

3. Have future plans that will get you pumped. If you don’t have plans for winter break yet, now is the right time to make lists and buy tickets. After such a grueling semester, be sure to treat yourself with everything you deserve and more.

4. Listen to the happiest music possible and incorporate tiny dance sessions into your day. Easy and simple immediate mood booster.

7 more days, folks. Only seven more.

As a senior undergraduate, I seek out all opportunities that expand my horizons, with the aim of developing professionally and deepening my vision of how I can positively impact the world around me. While most of my career aims revolve around healthcare and medicine, I enjoy producing content that is informative, engaging, and motivating.  In the past few years, I have immersed myself in the health field through working at a private surgical clinic, refining my skills as a research assistant in both wet-lab and clinical settings, shadowing surgeons in a hospital abroad, serving different communities with health-oriented nonprofits, and currently, exploring the pharmaceutical industry through an internship in clinical operations.  Career goals aside, I place my whole mind and soul in everything that I pursue whether that be interacting with patients in hospice, consistently improving in fitness PR’s, tutoring children in piano, or engaging my creativity through the arts. Given all the individuals that I have yet to learn from and all the opportunities that I have yet to encounter in this journey, I recognize that I have much room and capacity for growth. Her Campus is a platform that challenges me to consistently engage with my community and to simultaneously cultivate self-expression.
