How to Appreciate the Rain (for those that hate it)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

I’ve always been the worst fan of rain. As a little girl, I found it difficult to appreciate the fact that a rainy day meant no running around in the backyard with the dogs or that it meant wet socks and stinky feet for days on end. But now, as it’s nearing the rainy seasons of the Bay, I’m determined not to get the dreary-blues. If life gives you rain, find a way to still squeeze some happiness in the midst of it. Here, as follows, are the a couple of things I’ve decided to do this rainy season.

  1. Buy the warmest snuggie around.

Being cold during the rainy season is the ultimate mood-killer so a fuzzy snuggie should be your new best friend.

2. Light scented candles whenever possible!

The smell of fresh rain is phenomenal but only AFTER the rain stops. Candles will bring out good aromas and even better vibes.

3. Have apple cider on hand at all times.

It’s pretty rad and worth it. Not only is it easy delicious, it’s easy to make: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/42022/easy-apple-cider/

4. Follow the latest fashion trends and get knee high rainboots!

Or if you’re daring, try thigh high rainboots for extra glances.

Enjoy the rain! It’s a rarity that we honestly should be thankful for.

As a senior undergraduate, I seek out all opportunities that expand my horizons, with the aim of developing professionally and deepening my vision of how I can positively impact the world around me. While most of my career aims revolve around healthcare and medicine, I enjoy producing content that is informative, engaging, and motivating.  In the past few years, I have immersed myself in the health field through working at a private surgical clinic, refining my skills as a research assistant in both wet-lab and clinical settings, shadowing surgeons in a hospital abroad, serving different communities with health-oriented nonprofits, and currently, exploring the pharmaceutical industry through an internship in clinical operations.  Career goals aside, I place my whole mind and soul in everything that I pursue whether that be interacting with patients in hospice, consistently improving in fitness PR’s, tutoring children in piano, or engaging my creativity through the arts. Given all the individuals that I have yet to learn from and all the opportunities that I have yet to encounter in this journey, I recognize that I have much room and capacity for growth. Her Campus is a platform that challenges me to consistently engage with my community and to simultaneously cultivate self-expression.
