Berkeley is full of amazing and creative individuals and this week we came upon an exciting campus celebrity, senior Ming Cong!
Ming Cong is a current senior studying Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) who has a great passion for fashion. She is currently co-president and show director of FAST and will soon be debuting her final collection in December for FAST fashion show “Legacy”.
Cong is nicknamed “Queen Ming” and the “Anna Wintour” of UC Berkeley by many that know her. She will be graduating this fall and plans on moving to New York City to fulfill some of her dreams. Along with being co-president of FAST, Cong also teaches the UGBA 198 Retailing Decal.
Last year, Cong was one of the four UC Berkeley students selected for the prestigious YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund award. She was selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship along with a trip to New York City to attend the YMA FSF ceremony and meet with professional of the fashion industry.
Although Ming Cong will be graduating this fall, it is clear to say that she will be remembered for renovating FAST and turning it into a “vehicle for students interested in fashion to pursue their interest as a career.” You won’t want to miss the FAST fashion show on December 7th because like Cong said it will be “the most spectacular show our audiences have ever seen.”
