British Columbia features a diverse cast of post-secondary school options, and they each have unique reputations. To help anyone who is considering applying (or transferring), we at Her Campus have elected to describe each school as a Harry Potter character.

1. Simon Fraser: Harry Potter

Probably has a bright future, but you couldn’t tell by looking. Must constantly defend itself from Draco’s insults.

2. UVic: Fred and George Weasley

Screw academics; they’re is here for a good time. Will drop out before graduation.

3. UBC, Vancouver: Draco Malfoy

Snobby and pretentious, with a rich father who will definitely hear about this.

4. UBCO: Ron Weasley

Sort of tags along for the ride, but is kind of of forgettable.

5. Emily Carr University: Luna Lovegood

A little bit spacey, but generally loveable. Focuses on things no one else cares about.

6. VIU: Neville Longbottom

Spent childhood as a pudgy, overlooked college. Recently hit puberty and blossomed into a beautiful fully-grown university.

7. BCIT: Hermione Granger

The one who is, quite frankly, being smartest about their financials and career plan. Will actually have a useful degree upon graduation.

8. Thompson Rivers: Lavender Brown

Really clingy, slightly desperate. Doesn’t realize they’re the consolation prize.

Avery is a second-year student at the University of British Columbia, where she is exploring her innumerable and possibly not very practical interests. She hails from the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island and has plans to do much more travelling before she gets too tired. If given a choice she would much rather have gone to Hogwarts, but readily admits that UBC is a close second. Her most notable talent is an uncanny ability to quote Hamilton during almost any conversation.
