5 Staples You Need In Your Fall Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UAB chapter.

Personally, I despise pumpkin spice flavored anything, but I absolutely adore fall! Fall is when all of my favorite television shows return for the season, I do exceptionally well in my fall courses as opposed to the spring semester, it’s not sweltering hot outside (although if you live in the south, it definitely still is, but we will get there), and most of all the fashion! There are so many wonderful looks and colors to implement into your personal style this season, and here are five that have caught my eye and never go out of style.

1.  Cardigans

Everyone loves a good cardi. I happen to also be quite fond of Cardi B. Whether they are oversized, buttoned up, or dressed down, or long and flowy, you literally cannot go wrong with a cardigan and an awesome pair of jeans. You can break out those cardigans now as we transition into cooler weather. I’ve been on the lookout for an oversized leopard print cardigan, so if you see one, hands off!

2.  Booties

It’s not quite the weather for a full on to-the-knee leather boot, or those oh so comfy Uggs, but it is definitely time for booties! Booties are an easy way to dress up your casual look and give it that extra oomph. Pair them with a cuffed jean, and voila!

3.  Scarves

An all time favorite accessory of mine are scarves, and not only to wear around my neck, but on my head as well on those days I want my twist out to be super popping, and they need a bit longer to dry. Prints, prints, and more prints! Add a pop of color to your plain tees and jeans combination.

4.  Denim

Jean jackets are forever apparently! They go great over dresses and I’ve seen some paired with skirts that looked really nice. It’s not too heavy and just right for the impending weather. This is also not limited to chambray shirts that are not denim, but have the appearance of denim. If you haven’t figured it out you should be putting together all of things in this list!

5.  Makeup!

Last but not least, and something that I have just started to really take interest in is makeup. I’ve always been in love with the colors for this season. Jewel tones are a must. My favorites are deep purples, greens, and oxblood, or as regular people like myself call it, burgundy or maroon. If you’re not into face painting try these colors on your nails instead!

A work in progress.
