Thanksgiving brings out what seems to be the best in a lot of people. We are surrounded by people we love and care about, we can reflect on all of the past events of the year, and we can celebrate what we are thankful for. Here are just a few things that I have been thankful for this year.

  1. My family

This is probably an obvious one for most people, but I am more thankful for my family everyday. The support and love I receive on a daily basis is unwavering and I could not be happier about that.

  1. Old friends

I never get to see these people, but I know we can always rely on each other. The phone conversations that last for hours, the coffee conversations that turn into dinner ones, and the random “I miss you” texts. All of these put my life into perspective and bring back all of the wonderful memories we have shared together.

  1. New friends

We haven’t formed many memories together as friends, but the ones we have, I’ll cherish forever. It’s amazing how fast you can meet someone and become friends with them. I am so thankful to share these memories with you guys.

  1. My boyfriend

Words cannot express how thankful I am for you. Over a year has passed and it has been one of the best so far. Thank you for everything.

  1. Home

Everyday that I am away from home, I grow to appreciate it a little bit more. My house, the parks, the mountains, my teachers, my friends, and that feeling of home. I wouldn’t be who I am without them.

  1. Laramie

Laramie has always just been a place for me up until this year. I live here. I go to school here. It finally feels like a place I belong. I am thankful to have this feeling that not very many others have.

  1. My job

This may seem braggy, but I have the best job ever. Though it is only for a few months out of the year, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Swimming and coaching have always been passions of mine and I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to pursue them both.

  1. Dogs

I don’t own a dog, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be thankful for them… right?

  1. Books

Reading seems like a hassle when you’re a full time college student and a lot of the time I can’t escape my homework for a comfort read. Yet, I am still thankful for them. The words can transport me from my apartment to a whole other world.

  1. Movies

Nothing is better than piling onto the couch with some of your best friends for a Harry Potter marathon. Movies offer an escape from reality while also bringing you closer to friends, and I think that is amazing.

  1. Love

I just really love, love.

  1. Road Trips

Spontaneous or planned, you can never go wrong with a road trip. Driving to see family, or just driving to drive can bring people together in ways that not many other things can.

  1. Game Nights

I was never a big fan of games until this year. Games are so much fun though. When you’re together with friends to enjoy a night of cards or jenga, that’s when memories are formed.

  1. Warm Blankets

I love being warm, and on those cold days at home or in Laramie, I love crawling into bed with my 10 blankets to snuggle up and watch netflix.

  1. Coffee

Need I say more?

  1. Family Dinners

By family dinners, I mean friend dinners that feel like you’re with family. We all decide on what to make, on what night, and cook together as a family. They’re always delicious.

  1. Socks

I recently found out that I am especially thankful for socks. I am almost always wearing a pair wether it be a snarky/sassy pair I found online or fuzzy Christmas socks.

  1. Pictures

When you walk into my room, the first thing you’ll notice is how many pictures I have hanging on my walls. They are snapshots of memories that I can relive by just looking at them.

  1. My childhood teddy bear

This bear has been with me for longer than I can remember. His fur is a little matted, and you can almost never see his eyes, but he is my favorite piece of me and I am thankful to have had him all these years.

  1. Christmas lights

This seems fitting for the holiday season we are in. My favorite part about Christmas as a kid was driving around and looking at all of the Christmas displays. They’ve always represented happiness and creativity which are the two things I am most thankful for.
