The Top 5 Ice Cream Shops in Victoria

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

Even though summer is coming to a close, that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy some warm-weather treats! Ice cream is always a classic, and sometimes it can be nice to go out and get a unique, creamy treat (not that there is anything wrong with curling up with a spoon and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s).

1. Parachute Ice Cream – 2626 Bridge Street

If you are looking for real ice cream with real ingredients, look no further than Parachute Ice Cream. Everything is made on-site and they aim to use as many local products as they can. Plus, they have vegan flavours!

2. Kid Sister – 10 Fan Tan Alley

Kid Sister has it all: amazing flavours, cute storefront, and an amazing location. They have an ever changing, made-from-scratch menu that never disappoints. If you want an instagrammable treat, this is the place for you.

3. Jackson’s Ice Cream Float – 12 Erie Street (on the docks)

What goes best with houseboats and fish and chips? You guessed it: ice cream. Fisherman’s Wharf is an awesome place to enjoy views, food, and super cute houseboats, and all of those things can be made better with ice cream eaten while floating on the Pacific.

4. Cold Comfort – 1115 North Park Street

Cold Comfort is your quintessential Victoria ice cream shop. It’s a little out of the way, but so worth it with vegan and diabetic-friendly flavours and a variety of house-made treats. They have 7 unique flavours available every day so you can go back as many times as you want. Pro-tip: They don’t do cones, but you are more than welcome to bring your own!

5. Chocolats Favoris – 1010 Government Street

Chocolat Favoris is truly an experience. We all love ice cream, but what could make it just a little bit better? The choice of 12 different chocolate dip flavours to make your ice cream an experience you’ll never forget. Not only do they have amazing dipped ice cream, but they make everything from gelato to fondues to chocolate bars. And if that didn’t already sound good enough, you can even order their products online.
