6 Style Blogs for Curvy Girls

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

My intention in writing this article was to showcase some of the best curvy bloggers on this side of internet. It wasn’t until I started my research that I realized the opportunity I had. I was able to pick through dozens and dozens of blogs that featured curvy bodies like mine. I use the word “curvy” instead of “plus-size” because the latter is really beginning to irk me. Plus…what “size”? But I digress. The point is, I’ve never seen bodies like mine represented in the media in a positive way. Until now. These curvy bodies are demanding visibility and they’re looking fabulous while doing it. The six blogs I’ve selected truly encompass the philosophy that you can have style at any size.

1. Tanesha from Girl with Curves

Tanesha’s blog and style is the epitome of elegance and sophistication. I absolutely love how fluid her style is. From casual chic to boss lady attire, every outfit is on point. I wish I could say this was it but, on top of being one of the most popular style blogs on the internet, Tanesha also has her own line of clothing. It’s a small online boutique but the clothes are flawless.

2. Gabi from Gabi Fresh

Gabi definitely knows how to push the fashion limits in all the right ways. I discovered her blog during my first year of university and I’ve been obsessed ever since. If I could try to describe her style I would say it’s daring, energetic, and fabulous. When I’m in a style rut, Gabi’s blog definitely gives me life.

3. Nadia from Nadia Aboulhosn

Sexy and edgy are the first words that come to mind when I think of Nadia’s style. This is probably one of the reasons why she’s not only a blogger but also a model. She can take a simple sweater or black dress and turn it into an iconic look. Personally, I love the way she uses her makeup and hair to complete her outfit. Her style is simply perfection.

4. Jay from Jay Miranda

I like to think of Jay’s style as girly, and chic. I have perused her blog in envy of some of her clothing. My absolute favourite looks to see her in are the skirts. I think she loves tutus as much as I do. Plus, her use of accessories is amazing. Between her shoes, sunglasses, and jewelry, sometimes I just can’t deal.

5. Nicolette from Nicolette Mason

Let’s just say Nicolette’s blog and style makes me want to live in New York. Not only is she a blogger, but she is also a contributing fashion editor/writer and clothing designer. Jealous? I love the way Nicolette uses prints and colours. Her style mixes high-end with low end and completes her outfit with her infamous cat-eye sunglasses. Oh, and her handbags are always on point.

6. Allison from Curvy Girl Chic

Last but not least we have Allison. Her style really is curvy girl chic with a hint of  Californian simplicity. I am in love with how she styles her floral and printed pieces. Her accessories are flawless and she definitely knows how to add some edge to her otherwise girly looks. I often look to her blog for spring and summer style inspiration because she always nails it.

If I haven’t convinced you that style knows no size, check out these blogs.

The style of these beautiful women can speak for itself. Not only are these women defining their own style but many of them are creating their own lines of clothing. If you have a favourite curvy blog or you happen to have a curvy blogger tweet us @HCuOttawa!
