10 Thoughts You Have While Studying in the UGLi, As Told By “Broad City”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mich chapter.

Finally, the snow has melted and the sun is shining! That could only mean one thing: finals. Whether you study in Bert’s or on the fourth floor, there are a few experiences you’re bound to face as you prepare for your long night of practice tests and review sheets in the UGLi.

1.     Before heading into the UGLi, you remind yourself that you are part of the Leaders and Best, and that you can totally conquer finals week.

2.     When you run into your friends on the second floor and you decide to sit with them, believing for some reason that you’ll be just as productive here as you would be in the Ref Room or Law Library.

3.     Your temporary focus is threatened when you open your computer and immediately feel overwhelmed.

4.     After procrastinating by responding to all of your emails (and filling out all your course evals), your computer dies. But you’re in the UGLi, so there are no outlets to be seen.

5.     After finally finding an outlet, you realize you have to go to the bathroom. You seriously consider ways to avoid leaving your coveted seat in order to use the dark, toilet-paper-free bathroom.

6.     But on your way back from the bathroom, you find a mechanical pencil and think, if only for a fleeting moment, that your studying might be so productive that you’ll be able to go out tonight.

7.     When midnight rolls around and you’ve still only done your course evals, you accept that you will not, in fact, be making it to Skeeps.

8.     But then Pizza House calls to tell you your cheesy bread is downstairs and everything is okay again.

9.     After finishing your cheesy bread, MWirless cuts out and you FaceTime your roommates, crying from the nursing chair in the bathroom.

10.   After you calm down, you realize that its 2 A.M. and you still haven’t done anything.
