So Thankful For Black Friday Shopping

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

After settling down with your family for a yummy Thanksgiving meal and appreciating all that we have to be thankful for this year, we should be satisfied right? Wrong! The next step on this wonderful holiday is to prepare for the shopping extravaganza that night.

Black Friday shopping has almost become a national holiday all on its own and for good reason, too. Black Friday shopping is filled with tons of amazing deals, crazy shoppers and trashed stores.

I find this all super ironic after most people have sat down with their families to appreciate all their blessings this year just hours before. Black Friday shopping is a great way to save money on the super deals stores offer this one time a year. I just hope that people do not forget the true meaning of the season and end up looking like Veruca Salt during her temper tantrum.

If you can make Black Friday into a family event, do it! It’s always important to save money (I love it just as much as the next person!), but it’s also important to enjoy the company of family and make memories that will last a lifetime. Guaranteed Saturday morning there will be a death reported on the news of someone being trampled while Black Friday shopping.

Let’s do everyone a favor in America this year and act like the thankful civilized people we were just hours before while eating turkey.

Have a wonderful time Black Friday shopping, and remember what this season is truly about!
