Whether you’re exhausted and starving from a long night of studying or hungry after a night out with friends, fulfilling late-night food cravings is a must. Iowa City is known for many local favorites when it comes to grub. Here’s a list of favorites that are open extra late for the young and hungry night owls out there.
1. Mesa Pizza: Their famous Mac n Cheese pizza is a must-try. Want it at 2 a.m.? You’re in luck; they’re open until 3 a.m. Monday through Saturday and until midnight on Sunday.
2. Swankie Frankie: Craving a good old fashioned Chicago dog? Swankie Frankie’s got you covered. Open until 2 a.m. on Thursdays and 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, they also have vegetarian and gluten-free options. Score!
3. Yotopia Frozen Yogurt: Your sweet tooth can come calling at any moment.. never fear, Yotopia is here. They’re open extra late, until 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday and open 11 p.m. the rest of the week. They have original yogurt flavors and super fun toppings. Make sure to grab a punch card, and stop by on double-punch Tuesdays.
4. Falbo’s Pizzeria: Classic, thick-crust pizza is what Falbo’s specializes in. They also specialize in good, late-night deals, at just $2 a slice! They’re open until 3 a.m. Monday through Saturday and until 2 a.m. on Sunday.
5. Pedestrian Mall Food Vendors: From famous Marco’s Grilled Cheese to Taco in a Bag, the Ped Mall is full of late-night food options. Mostly open on the weekends and during special events, Ped Mall food stands are open well past bar close.
6. Mami’s Authentic Mexican Food: Known for the best queso and loaded nachos in town, Mami’s Authentic is open until 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday and until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
7. DP Dough: DP Dough may not be local, but it is a favorite among many University of Iowa students. Their flavorful calzones are available until 2 a.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, until 3 a.m. Wednesday, and until a super late 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Keep your eye out for their ridicuoulsy cheap promotions through OrderUp; they occasionally offer calzones for as cheap as $1.99!
8. Molly’s Cupcakes: Although Molly’s may not be open until 4 a.m., you can still get a cupcake until 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday (which is still a great time for a cupcake, amiright?!). Molly’s also has great weekly deals, including buy one, get one 1/2 off every Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
