6 Thoughts You Have While Black Friday Shopping

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

There’s nothing like smelling the Thanksgiving dinner as it cooks, sitting down at the table to chow down, spending time with your family—and then running to the mall to get as many deals as possible. Black Friday sales take over our thoughts as soon as commercials begin, and everybody loves to go for the ridiculous sales. No matter how important it is to you to go shopping at the stroke of midnight, we all have the same thoughts as we’re pushed by the crowd through aisle after aisle of cheap items.

1. Where do I even start?

Every window is filled with signs advertising massive sales, and it’s impossible to map out how you’re going to go through all the stores. You’ll be stuck following the crowd because it’s definitely not worth the risk to attempt to break free from the sea of people.

2. Just take all my money

How can you not spend literally every penny you have on all the clothes, gadgets and accessories? It just can’t be done when everything is so cheap.

3. If I have to wait in this line any longer, I’ll go crazy

The one downside of sales upon sales upon sales is that everybody else in the world wants to save money, too. You’re pretty much guaranteed to go crazy while you wait in line.

4. I would kill for a cup of coffee

It. Is. So. Early. How did you even manage to get up this early (or, how did you not sleep at all between Thanskgiving dinner and now)? The only thing that will keep your heart pumping is a huge cup of coffee—good luck deciding whether to run to Starbucks or keep your spot in line.

5. How did I already spend $300?

Wow, that’s a lot of money. And a lot of things to wrap (or keep for yourself). Whoops.

6. At least I saved $200

That’s the good thing about sales—you’re still saving so much money! Now you get to go into another store and treat yourself because you’re so good at shopping smart.
