Jeff Sloan ’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Chicago chapter.

Name: Jeff Sloan

Year: 2nd Year (2014)

Major: English and Economics

Interests/activities on campus: I am an officer of publications and founder at our Sigma Chi fraternity chapter. I also work with the Hillel Cultural Center to meet and connect Jewish students, as well as DJ professionally across campus.

Craziest/Boldest thing You’ve Ever Done: When I was in high school, I jumped on top of a friend’s car as he was leaving a parking lot. It was a lot of fun until I was flung off at 30 miles per hour! Though a hospital visit followed (as all good stories must include), I actually used this experience for my University of Chicago essay!

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Easily malted milk balls.

Three things on your Bucket List: I know I must eventually write a book and get it published. That’s bucket list item number one! But two other things on the list include hiking the Appalachian Trail and traveling through Scandinavian Europe.

Dream job/career: Author

Best movie you’ve watched all year: “Horrible Bosses” was awesome.

If you had to give up one of your five senses, what would it be? I would give up my sense of taste. My creative work requires my ability to listen to music and observe people, and the one sense that’s least necessary for my passions is taste.

Favorite Restaurant in Hyde Park: Valois
