Game Face: A Guide to Tailgate ready Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

As Tulane students, we’ve probably all mastered the art of makeup for a long night out. This year, Yulman stadium is bringing the party outside. Here are some tips to ensure your game face is flawless.

Absolutely do not forget your SPF. Make sure you get not only your face, but also your neck, shoulders, and chest. Last week, I got a statement necklace tan line… and that was embarrassing.

If you don’t wear foundation, that’s great. But if you do, I suggest skipping normal foundation for a tinted moisturizer or BB cream. These sheer formulas won’t melt and leave your face streaky and sticky before the game even starts. If you’re concerned about pictures, you should befriend blush and bronzer. The bright sun can really wash out your face, so I go a little heavy on these two items for game day.

No matter what, you are going to sweat. A lot. For the long day in the sun, I use waterproof pencil eyeliner on my top waterline to give definition with less of a chance of it smudging everywhere over the course of the day, then do a coat of waterproof mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

Back to the concerns about all the cute pictures you’ll definitely be taking, don’t forget your lips! The sun can make your lips invisible in pictures. To combat this injustice, I would go for a neutral or pink lip stain and top with a lip balm with SPF.

Extra tips:

Keep powder/blotting pads in your purse to fight inevitable shine

Have sunscreen on hand to reapply throughout the day

Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate some more!

Fun fact:

The Tulane Bookstore and Campus Connection both sell super cute Tulane temporary face tattoos that are the perfect way to finish off your Game Day look! Just remember to use rubbing alcohol to remove makeup on the part of your face you want to the tattoo to be on.

So get your game face on, and let’s show everyone that Tulane girls can rock a tailgate just like we rock The Boot!
