Favorite New Orleans spot?

Oof, this is a hard one, but I’m going to have to go with Frenchmen street. I absolutely love going downtown on any weekend night to hear some amazing live music and dance in and out of the clubs until my feet feel like they’re going to fall off. It’s those moments when I really feel like I’m immersed in the amazing New Orleans culture, and now that the new Dat Dog is open down there, there’s really no need to ever leave.

If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Teleport. I really really wish I could teleport. I’m generally running all over the place throughout the day and if I could teleport, I would never ever be late and I could fit even more things into the day! I get so frustrated with the added travel time in between activities. But I definitely wouldn’t want it to be painful like in Harry Potter.

What’s your favorite Tulane memory?

This is actually impossible to choose just one, but I’ll pick a good one. I joined Green Envy a cappella my freshman year and they immediately became my best friends and my family. I’ll never ever forget my first end-of-the-semester concert with them in Dixon Recital Hall. Our dress code was gold and black and I wore a gold leotard under a black skirt. One of the other new members, Harris, and I sang the solos in the song “Home” by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros and during the speaking part of the song where we just had to improve, he told me he loved my unitard. The room was absolutely packed and my friends were all screaming their heads off in the front row when I finished singing. When I got off stage that night I felt so high off life and legitimately could not stop smiling. I really couldn’t believe I was part of such an amazingly cool and talented group of people.

If you could give incoming freshman one piece of advice what would it be?

Get out of the Tulane bubble from time to time! I freaking LOVE Tulane…obviously, and I think it’s super important to get involved on campus and in the surrounding area, but it’s easy to get sucked in and to only stay around uptown during your freshmen and sophomore years. Explore the city and take advantage of all the festivals, music, art, public service opportunities and FOOD.

Any exciting plans after graduation?

Plans after graduation: Staying in Nola, DUH! But really, I’m not sure what exactly I’ll be doing, but I know for sure that I am NOT ready to leave.

What’s your life motto?

It changes often, but right now I’d say it’s….”I woke up like dis.”
