What activities do you participate in around campus?
I’m most involved in Imaginet, Tufts’ marketing & advertising club. I’ve been involved for the past 3 years, and this year I’m president. We act as a free on-campus ad agency. We create logos, flyers, t-shirt designs, and guerilla marketing campaigns for clubs, as well as off-campus businesses. Besides creating work, we also discuss awesome commercials we’ve seen and take tours of agencies around Boston like Communispace and Digitas. It’s a great place to chill and discuss pop culture or anything else that catches our attention. Besides Imaginet, I’m also a manager in the Campus Center i.e. the person the brown shirt you ask when the next Joey is coming.
What is the coolest thing that Imaginet has ever done or accomplished?
Most people won’t remember this, since it happened my freshman year, but it was right around when Tufts wanted to make Winter Bash a ‘classy event.’ Programming Board asked us to help them show that Winter Bash would be more black-tie and tasteful. So, we cut a huge piece of black paper into the shape of a tie and put it on the statue of Jumbo outside of Barnum. Jumbo looked pretty sharp.
Are you looking for new members? If so how do we join and who are you looking for?
Always. Always. Always. We have everybody from mechanical engineers to sociology majors in the club. The great thing about Imaginet is that everybody is an advertising expert, because it’s all around us, and we all have opinions about it. Anybody can pop into one of our meetings at any point in the semester –we meet Wednesdays at 9PM in Pearson 104.
Favorite Valentine’s Day candy?
The CVS candy aisle is my favorite place to shop –I can’t choose just one type of candy!
Favorite thing about your hometown?
The Wooden Goose Cafe. Best steak and eggs you’ve ever had.
Favorite thing about Tufts?
The quad. No matter what time of year it is, it always looks perfect.
What is your favorite part about Spring semester? What should freshman look forward to?
Not looking like a muppet in oversized sweaters, double-layered hats, and mittens.
Found any good blogs recently?
I’m a big fan of Seth Godin’s blog (http://sethgodin.typepad.com/).
Any words of wisdom for the younger Jumbos out there?
