Beating the Autumn Blues

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

In theory autumn is a beautiful time of the year, full of orange leaves, candy corn and sweater weather. However, it’s also a bittersweet time of the year with the arrival of the cold, as well as classes and the stress that comes with them. A lot of us tend to feel down with the absence of Vitamin D and the presence of rain. Fall got you down? Here’s a couple things to help cope:

1. Halloween Movie Marathon

Invite some friends over, have some apple cider and candy corn, binge watch your favorite halloween movies on Netflix, and voila, you’re feeling warm and fuzzy (or at least too scared to remember being sad).

2. Be a tourist in your own city.

We’re lucky to live close to an incredible city. Pick a weekend and explore all of the attractions Boston has to offer.

3. Make lists and schedule your week.

Don’t wait until Thanksgiving—start every day by jotting down a couple of things that you’re grateful for and make you happy as seeing it on paper will elevate your mood. Also try to schedule something enjoyable into every day so that you always have something to look forward to.

4. Change something up.

Whether it’s a new haircut or a new lip color, change something up. Change on the outside is often accompanied by a change on the inside.

5. Embrace the blues.
