How to Survive Trinity Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Trinity chapter.

1.) Schedule it out.

We love to pretend this is formal szn. Get your hair and nails done, dress shop online (just to exit out hours later without buying anything), and practice walking in those heels. Just don’t forget—it’s finals season too. It’s super important to pencil in all those due dates beside those “extracurricular activities”. It’ll be much easier to time manage your work load when you can see it all planning out, and this way you won’t accidentally miss any assignments or sleep through any tests. Believe me, it’s happens. And believe me, you don’t want to deal with that

2.) Don’t be afraid to try new study spots.

Finding a good study spot is key to doing well these next few weeks. The library fills up very quick, and it can be super disheartening to find your favorite cubby already taken. If you want to get your favorite spot you need to get there early—or you can try somewhere new. The English Building located at 115 Vernon Street can be very quiet this time of year, the LSC at night can be pretty peaceful, and don’t be afraid to try the new study spaces carved out in the new Cave renovation!

3.) Rent study rooms—and do it early.

To go along with finding new study spots, don’t overlook the study rooms in the library! It’s super easy to sign up for them. Just click this link and use your Trinity information. The LibCal will let you rent up to two hours a day. If you think you’ll need more than that, hook up with some friends and you guys can all take shifts renting out the room!

4.) Snacking: Maaaaajor Key

It’s finals, a girl can afford to indulge in some snacking, right?! Stress eating, while not that great for your abs, can help take your mind off that econ problem set—even if it’s just for a moment. Of course do it in moderation, but don’t be afraid to hit up some of my campus favorites, including: Peter B’s, Goldbergs, and the Cave. All are great for a quick hit if you just don’t have time to get a good meal in or if you need a little somethin’ extra to get you through the night.

5.) Get to Ferris at some point.

Okay… to counter my snacking advice definitely try to get to Ferris at some point this week. I’m not saying you need to hit the gym! – I’m just saying exercising is a super great way to de-stress and refocus. You’ll be able to get the adrenaline pumping by spending some time working out, and then you’ll be able to go even longer in the lib! Stamina!

6.) Lastly, paint your nails.

So, what I mean by this is don’t be afraid to take some time for yourself. I, personally, love to take a study break by painting my nails. It’s super relaxing, but you do whatever works for you! It’s a stressful time, so it’s going to happen. You’re going to hit a wall, and that’s totally normal. Take a break (not too long!) to watch the episode on Netflix, take a cat nap, or whatever it is you need to do. You deserve it!

Hi all! My name is Emily, and I'm a Junior at Trinity College. In my spare time play basketball, and I enjoy painting my nails (especially when the activity simultaneously works as a means of procrastination).
