Crisp but Chic: Fall Scarf Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Just the word scarf brings thoughts of chilly weather and hot chocolate. With fall quickly approaching, we start to whip out our scarf collection to add something fun, fashionable and warm to our fall looks.

For this season, it appears that it’s go big or go home with scarves. That’s right, the oversized scarf is in. Just wrap the scarf around your neck a few times and you are golden. A personal favorite is the knit scarf, but the oversized always looks great with a single colored sweater. Wear a bold oversized scarf to make your fall statement.

Similar to the oversized scarf, there is the shawl scarf otherwise known as a wrap. You wear a large scarf and wrap it as you would shawl. It’s a great way to spruce up a basic outfit and perfect for those chilly Fall mornings.

A chic trend to try this Fall is the bow scarf. It is exactly what it sounds like; a long scarf tied into a bow. It’s a great accessory around the holidays to make yourself look a little more festive. This scarf is also a great way to give a unique twist to your outfit. Bows are both trendy and cute.

The double wrap neck knot is not as difficult as it may sound. You just wrap the scarf around your neck twice and then knot it. This creates a fluffy effect and looks great under a denim jacket or over a chunky sweater. Pair this scarf up with a dark wash denim jacket and boots to get the perfect Fall look.

The basic loop is a go-to for anyone who just doesn’t care enough to spend time tying a bow into their scarf. This look is so versatile and simple, plus it works with almost any type of scarf. Just make a loop, stick the ends of the scarf through and you’re good to go. A quick and easy look for Fall.
