How to Transition Summer Pieces Into Fall Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Syracuse chapter.

The last thing anyone wants to think of right now is the chilly months that are upon us. However, fall fashion is gorgeous and what better way to enjoy it than by recycling some of this season’s pieces.

There were so many great trends this summer that simply ignoring them would be a crime. From dresses, to rompers, to the throwback seventies style, we are simply not ready to let go. Here are a few ideas to enable you to wear your favorite summer pieces throughout the fall months.

1. Summer dress.

It’s time to give your summer dresses a makeover. Bust out the layers! Throwing on a chunky knit sweater over a strappy floral dress is one of the easiest ways to keep warm. Plus, if you still feel like you need a little something extra, bring out the cute knee-high socks hiding in your closet.

2. Denim shorts.

Everyone loves a good pair of denim shorts during the summer. Whether they are high-waisted, distressed, or cuffed, we all own a much loved pair. Although you might feel like it is time to part ways with this staple, I am here to tell you that it is the perfect compliment to one of this season’s biggest trends – patterned tights! This is great for class thanks to its layers, and if you change the sweater for a nice top, it becomes the perfect outfit for a night out.

3. Rompers.

This was the alternative for any dress lover who wanted to have a more active summer. With the advantage of being an entire outfit on it’s own, we’ve seen endless variations of this piece. So why not pair it with another multi-purpose piece, the military jacket! Whether yours is complete with fur, resembling an anorak, or a lighter utility version, it is the perfect addition to your summer romper!
