Kill the Cold with Style!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

Living in New England provides us with the beautiful change of seasons, but totally kicks our butts when it comes to wintery weather conditions. Walking from your front door to the corner can completely destroy an outfit or a good hair day. Check out these winter-proof items to beat the cold even on the worst days!

On the hunt for a season-proof parka? Look no further, because the GAP parka is the ultimate winter jacket. Previewed above, it can be found in GAP stores today and is currently selling for $168.00. I own one myself and have never found more satisfaction in a jacket. It may appear less durable than the marshmallow floor-length parkas frolicking around the city, but this parka definitely gets the job done…without drowning you in unflattering puffiness! The jacket features a quilted inner lining and removable hood.  Take off the hood, and you are ready to rock this parka in the spring and fall.

LL Bean has mastered the ultimate winter boot. Their traditional Bean Boot is the best option when it comes to surviving unfriendly winter storms. Available in all colors, different heights and new styles, LL Bean has a boot for every taste. Starting at around $100.00, the boots can get pricey, but they are well worth the splurge! Bean Boots will be a go-to, classic staple in your wardrobe for years.

I couldn’t be happier to see bubble umbrellas making a savvy coming back. For harsh winter wind and severe snowstorms, the bubble umbrella is a reliable companion that can truly battle the storm. They start around $15.00 and move up in price from there. Cheap and reliable is something not often found in the same sentence…I’m telling you the bubble umbrella is a purchase you will not regret this season!  You can even get one that will match your ensemble.

When your standard black leggings do not cut it in the cold, invest in a pair of cozy spandex winter leggings. They look the same as standard black leggings, so when it comes to fashionable outfits you want to wear mid-January; your problem is instantly solved! My personal favorite for black spandex leggings is one of the many styles offered at Athleta. They have so many choices guaranteed to flatter every body type.

Currently a senior at Suffolk University majoring in Public Relations, I am excited to be finishing up my undergraduate career. Prior to working with Her Campus I interned at Rosie's Place, a non profit that works with struggling women and child. I currently waitress part time while going to school and working at Her Campus. Being a member of the Suffolk Her Campus chapter for 3 years now you can find some of my content there or in the giveaway section of the website!  In my free time I enjoy playing tennis, running, roller blading The Charles, cooking, spending time with my family and friends, overcaffinating myself at Starbucks, or binge watching Sex in The City for the 75th time. Upon graduation I wouldn't be opposed to staying in Boston nor would I be opposed to traveling elsewhere, preferably somewhere warm after these crazy winters.
Mackenzie's the name, Campus Correspondant for Suffolk is my game.
