Catching Up With Hayden Voss

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Suffolk chapter.

Two years ago, he was one of Suffolk’s Campus Cuties. Now, he’s one of the stars from Big Brother. Read below to see what he’s been up to!

Even though moving to California paid off, what would you say was the greatest challenge leaving Suffolk & moving there?

The greatest challenge was learning to do things independently. At Suffolk, my parents were still paying the bills and were just a short train ride away. I was very dependent on them and many others in school, and things changed a whole lot being on the other side of the country. I moved out with no job, no friends or family, and no place to live, and I had to learn how to support myself and build a life on my own. It was hard at times, but it paid off in dividends and helped me mature in many ways.

How did you feel when you first found out that you were picked to appear on Big Brother?

I was ecstatic when I first found out I was on the show. I was originally an alternate, so I didn’t find out until IMMEDIATELY before that someone dropped out and I was going in. I did the no pants dance, for sure.

What were your favorite & least favorite experiences from being on the show?

My favorite experience from being on the show was building personal friendships with everyone in the house. There’s SO much downtime in there, so it’s cool to get to talk with everyone and get to know each other. My least favorite experience was the lack of physical competitions throughout the show.

Looking back, what would you have done differently, besides making the alliance with Derrick & Cody?

I would have tried to get more involved in the game sooner if I could go back in time. I was doing a decent job at flying under the radar most of the season, but I didn’t have enough support to stay in the house when it came time for going on the block during the double eviction.

Have you kept in touch with any other members from this season of the show (besides Nicole?!)

I have kept in touch with most of the other house guests. Derrick lives close to my family on the East Coast so it has been easiest to meet up with him so far.

What are your plans from here on out?

My plan is to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. I don’t have a specific plan, but anything involving acting, writing, or filming is in my line of sight.

What’s better: West Coast or East Coast?

East Coast, F**k Tupac. BIGGIE REPRESENT.

What’s your favorite memory from when you attended Suffolk?

Drunkenly getting “2 Chainz” tattooed on my inner thigh next to my wiener one night.

Have you had any weird/funny fan encounters?

There were a couple of grown men outside a club in Hollywood who had 8 by 10 lamented pictures of me ready to be signed. It was of me in my bathing suit. What a rush.

In your Campus Cutie article from a few years ago, you wrote that your future career goals/ambitions was to be an Internet sensation. Do you feel that you’ve accomplished this, but in a different way? Do you have new goals/ambitions that you hope to accomplish?

I feel very accomplished in that sense, but there’s still a long way to go! I hope to be even MORE of an Internet sensation, a paid actor, AND a professional alligator wrestler.

How do you feel about going from an average college student to having people recognize you on the street?

I feel pretty… oh so pretty.. I feel pretty, and witty, and BRIGGHHTTT.

Erin is a senior at Suffolk, majoring in public relations. She loves going out with her friends, catching up on her shows on Netflix, and although she's sad about graduating, she can't wait to see what the real world has to offer.
Mackenzie's the name, Campus Correspondant for Suffolk is my game.
