Spring Break 2012: What Should You Pack?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stetson chapter.

The countdown has already begun for the next major vacation. Spring break 2012 cannot get here fast enough. With the extra time before traveling, make sure you have your Spring Break Essentials! I know some of you may be wondering what exactly to pack for Spring Break, well no need to stress anymore. I’ll point out the necessities you will want to pack for your fun in the sun.

NECESSITIES: Now, the first is that you want to make sure you packed all of your must haves; such as toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and sunscreen/after sun lotion! If staying at a hotel and forget a couple of things the concierge will be more than happy to provide those missing items, or sometimes they have a store where you can those things.

CLOTHES:It is always safe to pack a few cute little cotton sundresses, whether for day or night time, cotton sundress are perfect to pack because they don’t wrinkle and will be stylish wherever you go! If not in the dress mood, pack some miniskirts, but make sure they are not too short, even when wearing a bikini underneath. The proper length in the middle of your thigh, any higher is risky. For taking a stroll on the beach or shopping at all the store beach font, shorts and jeans are not a bad thing to wear especially if you want to save your dresses for your evening.

SHOES: When by the beach always have a pair of waterproof flip-flops. Pack some comfortable sandals for dressing up at night too. If you are like me, I always wear heels no matter where I go. When near the ocean, cork wedges and strappy platforms are the best for a fresh spring look especially if you want to add that extra height!

ACCESSORIES: One major thing to remember is that you can never have enough sunglasses. It never fails, whenever I go on vacation I pack one pair of sunglasses and just my luck, each time they break and I have to buy a new pair. Another thing to keep in mind, pack some inexpensive pairs of sunglasses in case you don’t want to lose or ruin your nice Chanel or Fendi ones.
Sun hats: the fedora is my fav for the beach and will always be a good choice when wanting to wear a hat and keeping the sun out of your face!

Bikinis: You will want to switch the style up a bit to not have the same tan lines and try to get an overall glow. Bring a wide range of styles such as triangle, bandeau, and halter. Along with this, don’t forget to pack a bathing suit cover-up!

Towels: If they aren’t provided at your hotel, pack some beach towels. Make sure you have one for the pool, with chlorine water, and one for the salt water. It is not good to mix them up due to chlorine and salt water when together eats away at the material.

Beach bag: Try to get one that is water proof just in case you wind up in a splash zone, you don’t want to get all of your belongings wet.

Lastly, to make your trip complete, pack your iPod for some awesome music to jam out to and a good book! Hope you all have an amazing Spring Break! Do you have some major must have beach essentials you pack? Let us know and leave a comment; we’d love to hear them!
