USC’s 10th annual Fashion Week begins this Monday starting with a kick off on Davis Fields that promotes Wednesday’s Student Designer Showcase, Thursday’s finale retailer show, and Friday’s boutique crawl. The woman behind it all is Fashion Board’s President Angel Prater who has worked hard the past eight months with her executive team to transform Fashion Week into a lineup of events bigger and better than years prior. Check out what Prater had to say about Fashion Week, how she found herself in this position, and where she plans to go in the future of fashion!

Her Campus South Carolina: What have the challenges and rewards of being Fashion Board’s president been like?

Angel Prater: “Being president has definitely been an experience that I have grown a lot from. Having to know everything that’s going on and make sure everything is functioning effectively can be challenging, but getting to see all of our meetings and events play out is the most rewarding part.”

HCSC: What are your summer plans?

AP: “For the summer I will be interning at a fashion public relations showroom in West Hollywood, CA!

HCSC: How would you describe your style?

AP: “A bohemian style with an edgy flair. Alexander McQueen is my favorite designer. Although he is no longer here, he revolutionized the design world with his controversial and spectacular designs.”

HCSC: How will you continue to stay involved with Fashion Board next year?

AP: “I will be studying abroad in the fall, so sadly I will not be able to participate. But, I definitely will be helping out with the transition of the new president and fashion week for next year. I hope Fashion Board keeps growing to give people a network to share their passions.”

HCSC: Why should people be excited for this year’s show?

AP: “This year is our 10th Annual Fashion Week, so we are going big with everything. We’ve put a lot of hard work into the events we’ve had in past years and the new events that we’re super excited about!”

Make sure you check out this year’s Fashion Week that is full of fun events and countless giveaways… including items by Kate Spade, Express, and Nordstrom!
