Sunday Brunch with the Girls

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

One of my favorites ways to spend a weekend morning (or pre-boulevard morning) is out to brunch with my girlfriends. For my friends and I, it’s a must a few times a month, and with so many fabulous restaurants to try out in Dallas, it should be for you too! Below are some of the brunch destinations in the Uptown area deserving of a visit.

Breadwinners Bakery & Cafe

Located in uptown, this Dallas favorite has that broken-in charm that might make you think your eating in a house built decades ago. With its narrow hallways and windy structure, and inside as well as outside seating, breadwinners is a relaxing way to spend the morning. Complementary slices of their to-die for breakfast breads (like Zucchini Spice and Pumpkin Streusel) are served at the table while you await your meal.

A Must-Try: Banana’s Foster Waffle

Penne Pomodoro

This Italian cuisine is located in Snyder Plaza right near SMU, and is a pre-boulevard favorite. Although small, once inside, the warm and bright ambience and friendly waiters will make you forget you are just minutes from campus.

A Must-Try:Savory Waffle (It’sfilled with Bacon, Mozzarella, Parmesan, and                                                            Jalapeno!)

Del Frisco Grille

This new-to Dallas restaurant is a laid-back version of the popular Del Frisco Steakhouse. Located across from Breadwinners, its uptown location and young, fresh vibe make it the new brunch hotspot. The menu might have something to do with that too, with cool twists on traditional brunch foods, like “The Grille Benedict.” Bonus: celebrities frequent it!

A Must-try: Red Velvet Belgian Waffle (Pic Above!)

Sfuzzi

Known as nighttime hot-spot in uptown, Sfuzzi’s fantastic brunch may come as a shock to some. Its casual yet vibrant setting is the perfect place for the morning after a night out—even if you were there only hours ago! The fresh and unique menu is worth the trip back.

A Must-try: Green Eggs & Ham

Caroline Wright, a double major in Business Marketing and Communication Studies at Southern Methodist University, is thrilled to be part of the Her Campus Team. Although a St. Louis native, she has enjoyed becoming a true Texan in spirit over the past two years! She has been employed by a variety of companies including Kate Spade New York, NBC Universal Pictures, Brynn Bagot Public Relations, Rent the Runway, and Nordstrom. Caroline is currently Social Chair for her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta as well as serves on the Board of SMU's Student Foundation.
