With mixer season in full swing, SMUs trendiest girls are already getting bored with the contents of their closets and are looking for new ways to spice up their outfits. It’s a new year, which means new designers and new trends are popping up everywhere you turn. So what are the ladies of SMU going to be wearing in 2014? Lets look at some of their top choices:
Kendra Scott
This jewelry designer is rapidly gaining popularity for her fun and fabulous earrings available in a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors. If you haven’t already visited the Color Bar in her boutique in West Village, you’ve been missing out on a great shopping experience. Connect with you inner jewelry designer and customize your new favorite accessory, or choose from hundreds of her pre-made designs. Kendra Scott is one designer you’re sure to spot your fellow SMU students sporting to their next big event!
Tory Burch
Still a favorite among students, Tory Burch has some of the cutest purses, flats, and sandals I’ve seen so far this year. If you’re looking for that perfect crossbody for your next night out at Avenu, look no further. Her handbags are well worth the money, they last forever and you don’t have to worry about them going out of style anytime soon. Tory Burch’s comfy sandals are another student favorite; everyone is dying to pull them out of their closets once the days get warm enough. In the meantime, tons of girls are suffering through this particularly cold weather sporting their favorite pair of Tory Burch riding boots.
Michael Kors
Michael Kors has some really fabulous heels and handbags this year. Girls can’t stop talking about how confortable his shoes are, which is definitely something you’ll appreciate after a long night out. For day wear, his watches are still a classic way to accessorize your outfit. Stylish and functional, they’re something I’ve been spotting all around campus this semester.
Lilly Pulitzer
Lilly Pulitzer’s sorority prints have always been a favorite among the Greek women here at SMU, a fun and fashionable way to wear your letters around campus. Her tote bags are just the thing to carry your textbooks to Fondy, and her photo frames are perfect for proudly displaying your bid day pictures. One of my favorite purchases so far this year has been my Lilly Pulitzer iPhone case with a built in credit card slot. That cleverly designed little case has prevented me from losing my ID more times than I can count!
Lululemon
Whether heading to Dedman in pursuit of your Cabo beach bod or heading to a particularly brutal Friday morning class, Lululemon leggings are always a popular choice. In the warmer months, their running shorts are available in an assortment of fun neon colors and are perfect for lounging around. Lululemon stuff is both comfy and cute, and you can always spot girls sporting their favorite Lulu gear across the campus.
These are just a few of the big names girls have been talking about so far this year. It’s been an exciting first month of the year, and I can’t wait to see what other designers and trends pop up during 2014!
